TMR Modular Building Project

Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) is upgrading many of its roadside rest areas and truck stops.  These sites typically have toilets, shelters, picnic benches and basic facilities allowing drivers to have a rest while on a long drive.

TMR selected Loocube’s 903 model rest stop buildings as a basic design for toilets using a combination of composting toilets, mains services and dry vaults.  A total of 14 buildings were supplied between May and September 2021. Loocube scaled up production to meet TMR’s order and timing needs, running two shifts per day and some weekend work to make sure all buildings were delivered on schedule.

Wonboyn Toilet Block

The versatility of Loocube’s design allowed the same basic building to offer disabled and ambulant facilities in addition to a secure store room.  All buildings were powered by solar systems and utilise vandal proof lights.  Rainwater is harvested and used for hand washing.

Loocube’s buildings are secure, fire resistant lightweight buildings that give us reliable facilities in remote areas at a reasonable price. They are attractive to look at and offer users a pleasant experience

Adrian Brown

Project Manager, TMR

The light-weight buildings are delivered to site pre-fabricated.  Installation was generally possible within three days from the slab curing until the building was finished.

This is a nice, simple design and easy to put up.  We were in and out in three days for most buildings
